Suggest Treatment When Nerves At The Root Of Molar Are Damaged

I am 77 years old, 190 pounds and 5 ft 10 inches tall. I think I am in good health but was told today
by my dentist that the nerves at the root of molar #14 are dead. The choices are 1) Do nothing, 2) get a root canal, or 3) extract #14. Delay might invite infection that would challenge my immune system. Can I assess the current state of my immune system, to help me choose?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

As per your query if the nerves of your tooth have become dead then leaving it as it is is not a correct option and in case if you have to select out of root canal treatment and extraction its better to get a Root canal treatment done as it will save the tooth as well as resolve the risk of causing infection..

As far as assessing the immune status of your body is concerned then if you do not have any running illness then the immune status must be considerably well according to the age..

Do not worry and if your dentist says that tooth is in a condition to be saved get a root canal treatment done followed by antibiotics and painkillers..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
