Suggest Treatments For Choking Sensation In The Throat

I have a choking feeling if anything touches my neck. I had 1/2 of my thryroid removed several years ago. The choking feeling is by my adams apple and the side in whichthe thyroid is still there. The ulta sound and bllod tests indicated my thyroid is OK, but the choking feeling does not go away.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are experiencing choking sensation in throat which could be due to granular pharyngitis. It could be due to formation of lump, gastroesophageal reflux disease and contraction of muscle sphincters. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles 2-3 times a day. Consult ENT specialist for proper examination . Doctor may order test like blood test , throat swab test , endoscopy and CT scan. From diagnostic studies exact diagnosis can be made out. Need not to panic about it. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics course, anti inflammatory medications or refer you to gastroenterologist. You should avoid heavy and spicy food specially at night and eat small and frequent meals. You should do betadine gargles as well.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
