Hi, I have been experiencing melasma on my forehead, cheeks, chin, and upper lip for about four years. I have tried triluma, and obagi, they were both very harsh on my skin. I recently did a mild laser which didnt appear to do anything at all. Is there any other suggestions. I was told this looks hormonal
I would suggest that you use a broad spectrum sunscreen throughout the day, that which offers both UV B as well as UV A protection.
Tri Luma cream contains 4% hydroquinone and is a good option for melasma. However, it can cause some irritation on the skin. You may try using it once daily at night OR every alternate night initially, to let the tolerance built. Thereafter you may continue with it once daily at night.
Other treatment options are using a kojic acid based cream OR Azaleic acid based cream. These are effective remedies for melasma and are not harsh unlike hydroquinone.
regards
