Suggest Ways To Avoid Pregnancy After Sex

I am going to have the gastric sleeve surgery one week from today on 6/22. Last night after sex, my boyfriend and I noticed the condom had broken and he did inseminate inside me. I am now worried because from what I have ready pregnancy can be detected 7-10 days after unprotected sex and I don t want my surgery cancelled because of it. I plan to have an IUD inserted the week or 2 following my sleeve. Please help!

Hi

I would suggest you to take emergency contraceptive like levonorgesterol as soon as possible.Generally, emergency contraceptive should be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse.Emergency contraceptive when taken under 24 hours of unprotected sex then it is 95% potent. If it is taken under 25-48 hours of unprotected sex then it is said to be 85% effective.Since you have taken the drug within 72 hours,it is highly effective.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
