I am 23 years old and just had a tonsillectomy 4 days ago. How do I get rid of the mucus in my throat? I suffer from post nasal drip and coughed a lot yesterday and cleared my throat when I know I shouldn t have but if I dont I feel like I am choking and can t breathe.

Hi
Welcome to healthcare magic.
I had gone through your question.
The symptoms strongly suggestive of sinus infection.
I recommend the following
1) A course of antibiotics preferably fluroquinolone group.
2) Antihistaminic with montelukast
3) steam inhalation to promote sinus ventilation and to improve sinus drainage.
4) A mucolytic like ambroxol

Wish you a good health...

Regards,
Dr Paparaja S MBBS MS
