Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 92 yr old father has been diagnosed with dementia. He is currently in respite care, but I ve found a nursing home which can provide permanent residential care from 11 January. I m having difficulty communicating with him, especially regarding the fact that he now requires full time care. He believes he s taking good care of himself, and doesn t think he needs anyone, and is a man who has never listened to anyone anyway! I can see his frustration at losing control, but he continues to lose his temper and I have little control over this. How do I talk with him about the nursing home? There should be different strategies for this, please tell me what they are, all he wants to do is go back to his house! I feel very alone and isolated. Thank you Regards Dianne
