Suggest Ways To Improve The Appetite Of An Infant

Hi Doctor, my 11 month baby girl just had a fever due to virus. She has recovered from fever but had completely lost her appitite. She won t even drink milk (which was her favorite). It has been 2 days since she s not eating. I ve tried everything and she s eating half of what she normally eats (calories wise). What s the reason for this and when will she be back to normal? Thanks

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

The decrease in appetite means she still does not feel like her normal self, she has not totally recovered from her viral illness.

The appetite tends to improve when the child feels better, this may take longer than the 2 days mentioned. It can take a few days longer, once she continues to drink it would be ok.
Making sure she drinks enough fluids are important.

I hope this helps
