Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Damage to the nerves in the skin may be contributing to the pain that you are experiencing so using medications for nerve related pain may help. Neuralgia (nerve pain), commonly occurs in response to burns. There are medications that are used to help treat nerve pain such as tegretol, gabapentin, amitriptylinem, nortriptyline, lyrica. These are prescribed meds and may only be needed for a short period of time while your nerves continue to repair themselves. Though the burns occurred a year ago, nerve repair can be slow in some cases.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
