Suggest Ways To Manage Withdrawal Symptoms Of Effexor
I was on Effexor for 12 months and recently saw a doctor because it was ineffective. He said I could quit it without much trouble because it wasn t doing anything but i have been experiencing withdrawal symptoms for the past 3 days (quit 4 days ago). I am extremely agitated and it s 2 in the morning where I am. I have left over Effexor. Would taking a 37.5mg dose help with the agitation. I just want to go to sleep and be able to run errands tomorrow with my family.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Effexor being an anti-depressive medicine needs to be withdrawn gradually. You seem to face withdrawal effects as you had stopped taking it abruptly. Though you did not observe any effect of the drug on your psychology. The drug does have some changes in your body which need to be withdrawn gradually. Please consult the treating doctor for more personalized advice.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
