Suggest Ways To Manage Withdrawal Symptoms While Weaning Off Trazodone

Hi. I have trouble in weaning off trazodone, 50 mg. Too much withdrawal effects, even with a decrease of quarter of the pill. Somewhere I read l-tyrptophan could be used to support trazodone withdrawal. Any information on this would be appreciated. Thanks,

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Trazodone is an antidepressant drug used to treat major depressive disorders. When on this drug, withdrawal symptoms are possible after discontinuing.Factors that may influence the duration of withdrawal and the intensity of symptoms that you experience include: the time span over which you took Trazodone, the dosage you have been taking, how quickly you taper, as well as your individual physiology..
Tapiering is the best way to do this. You reduce the dose of your drug progressively till you finally get off it to limit withdrawal symptoms.
Since you are on a low dose, getting off it will not be too challenging.I will suggest you reduce the dose to 25mg, then after a month to half of this dose then to a quartre for a month and then stay off it.This will allows your nervous system to gradually adjust to the drops in dosage.
Hope this will help
Best regards
