I had a surgery on my stomach 6 year Back ..and staples were used to 22 stitch my skin up...the result left is like a long swollen red line..can u please suggest ways to remove this mark by cosmetic surgery or any other way..
Raised swollen surgical scar persisting even after 6 years of surgery suggests that we are dealing with a keloidal scar.
Keloid is nothing but excessive scar tissue. Normally a scar is flat and avascular in contrast to keloid which is red, raised and also extends beyond the margins of the wound, it may be itchy as well.
Treatment options for a keloid are: Intralesional steroids, Intralesional 5-Flourouracil, CO2 Laser vaporization and silicone gel sheet dressings etc. Intralesional steroids, silicone gel sheet dressings are the one most often utilized.
I would suggest that you see a dermatologist and work out the most appropriate treatment option.
