Today I was cleaning my shower with bleach and when I was I was finished I started coughing and could smell the bleach in my nose. I cleaned at around 2 pm and it is now 8 and I am still coughing pretty hard and also can smell the bleach in my noes. I have tried allergy cold med because I thought I was getting a cold. I also have tried cough drops, but I nothing has worked. I also cleaned my couch with pure alchol today not sure if it was too many chemicals and if there is anything I can do to help the cough. My thoat is sore from coughing so much. I have insurance but we have to pay all bills till we meet our deductible and not sure if I have to go to the dr.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Bleach can affect the respiratory tract if excess amounts are inhaled or the room does not have enough ventilation.

If you are experiencing any other symptoms such as shortness of breath then you need to consider visiting your doctor for an assessment.

If your main symptom is the cough then it should go on its own. The use of a cough suppressant should help.
You may also want to consider an antihistamine.

I hope this helps
