General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your mentioned history suggestive that he is suffering from polycythemia problem.

In this condition, therapeutic phlebotomy is the best treatment and so he needed to be put on regular blood withdrawal means phlebotomy treatment.

Aspirin is an anti platelet drug and will help in preventing clot formation. In high red blood cells count, thrombosis is a risk. So aspirin intake will prevent thrombosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
