Sugget Treatment For Lung Nodules

Hi, my wife has 2 nodules right lower lobe of lung. They are approx 4mm in length. Found about Dec 15. Told to come back and do another ct March 8. Whether show any increase in size or not should we look to go to MD Anderson ?? Live in Monroe,La. She is a smoker all her life (just quit 6 weeks ago) and father and aunt died from lung cancer. Would appreciate advice - Don t feel that our home town is the place to continue med assistence.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your problem and situation.
She is having following risk factors for nodules to be malignant in nature.
1. Long history of smoking
2. Family history of lung cancer.
So I advice you to consult pulmonologist and get done regular follow up 3-4 monthly with
1. CT thorax
2. Bronchoscopic examination.
At present, we have to just wait and watch. Because biopsy is not possible in 4 mm nodule.
So we need to closely observe her by CT and bronchoscopy.
And its good that she had quit smoking. Encourage her to continue quitting.
It will help her a lot.
