Swallowed A Chicken Bone That Is Not Coming Out Despite Several Attempts. Afraid That The Intestines May Get Perforated.

I swallowed a chicken bone and I could feel it stuck in the side of my throat. I tried to make it come back up but I am not sure that it did. I'm not sure the size of the bone. But I was able to feel it in my chest. All the food I ate came back up but the bone didn't. I am eating a banana now, hoping that will help. I'm afraid that my intestines will get perforated.

Hello,
Thanks for the query,

There are chances of perforation.

Please get an xray abdomen done.

As it is a bone it will be clearly visible on xray.

The position of bone can be ascertained and can be removed.

Dont take any laxatives.

They increase gut motility and hence chance of perforation increases.

Let me know if you have any other doubt.

you can ask a direct question to me on this forum, following the below link.
