Swallowed Plastic Cup, Choked. Further? Will I Digest It?
While drinking out of my plastic cup w/lid (through the straw) I realized I swallowed a piece of sharp plastic from the lid that chipped off! It was large enough to go through the straw, about 1/8 x 1/2 ! I choked/gagged for a second but but then it lodged and I could breathe but it was still painful in my throat . Hours later, it feels like it is still there yet I am also experiencing chest pain . Is it possible that it just scratched my throat while going down and is now stuck somewhere in my chest? Will it digest or do I need to look at getting it removed?? I m afraid of the damage it could do, due to the size and sharpness.

You should immediately go to ER and should go for x ray chest on urgent basis.
Yes..swallow of plastic lid may cause stretch in esophagus with impaction at any level of esophagus narrowing.
You should also consult with endoscopist (who performs endoscopy) and should go for removal of impacted plastic lid.
Problem in swallowing is that it may reach up to stomach very easily but it may be difficult for crossing pyloric channel opening.
You should also go on urgent basis as with time, all foreign body gets slimy layer and its very difficult to pick up.
