Swelling And Pain In Index Finger Joint Due To Kitten Bite. No Relief From Oral Antibiotics. Concerning?
My kitten bit my index finger at the second joint last night. I went to the ED today and was given oral antibiotics and this evening there is increased swelling and more pain. Should I be concerned and go back to the ED or keep taking the antibiotics and wait until tomorrow to see if I improve?
Hi, You must keep taking the full course of antibiotics. Simple pain killers can be taken for the pain. Elevate the hand as this can sometimes relieve the swelling to a degree. If there is no improvement in the next 24 hours then you need to be seen again in the ED.
