Swelling In Glands And Inner Mouth, Difficulty Breathing Due To Slow Impacting Wisdom Tooth. Wise To Lightly Remove The Pus In The Swelling Using A Needle?

I am 21 years old, female and suffering from slow impacting wisdom teeth. My problem is the swelling that causes my glands and inner mouth to swell to the point of stopping my breathing. Unfortunately my wisdom teeth are growing together although at different rates and because of this they cannot be removed due to the amount of gums still covering them. My query would be, would it be wise to lightly remove the pus within the swelling - only inside the mouth, with a needle or generally not so?

Hello,
Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic forum.
The swelling and pain are usually associated with post extraction of wisdom tooth.
Please do visit a dentist for clinical and radiological examination of erupting tooth.
If tooth is misplaced,it has to be removed.
If there is adequate space for tooth eruption, flap overlying tooth has to be removed to enhance tooth eruption.
Please take complete course of antibiotics too.
Gargle frequently using warm saline betadine rinse.
Rinse mouth after every meals.
Hope this helps.

hi there
thanks for asking your query

wisdom tooth eruption is often followed by complications like pain, swelling and discomfort
impaction of wisdom tooth occurs when it didnt get enough space in arch to erupt or may be it is misaligned
the gum overlying the impacted or partially impacted tooth gets infected by food impaction and bite, resulting in pain and swelling
as you mntioned severe swelling it means your tooth along with soft tissue is baly infected
in this case you have to consult a dentist for complete evaluation
and if the tooth is mis aligned or partially impacted then extraction is the solution
mean while maintain good oral hygiene
use antiseptic mouthwash
rinse well after every meal
gargle with saline water
take analgesic and antibiotic cover for 7 days
thanks

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

According to your history i suspect that the problems which you are facing is due to the impacted wisdom tooth. This area is difficult to clean and often invites bacterial accummulation due to food deposition leading to redness, swelling of the overlying gums known as Pericoronitis.
Difficulty in mouth opening and breathing is due to the pain and swelling.
I would suggest you to visit an Oral Surgeon get a checkup done take an OPG x-ray and plan for the extraction of the tooth.
Start with the course of antibiotics and analgesics.
Take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses.
Maintain a good oral hygiene.

Hope this helps out.

Hello there ,

Thanks for writing your query,

Wisdom tooth is the last tooth to erupt in the oral cavity and often its eruption is associated with symptoms like pain and discomfort in eating , difficulty in opening mouth , swelling in the jaws and cheek bite.

wisdom teeth are often tilted in position and impacted in the bone , gums overlying the tooth usually undergoes inflammation known as pericoronitis .

The tilted position of the tooth leads to entrapment of the cheek mucosa in between the teeth during biting.

i would suggest you to go for symptomatic treatment at home like gargling with lukewarm saline water or antiseptic mouthwash like chlorhexidine or betadine.

You may need to get an OPG radiograph done for you which will show the exact position of the tooth, consult a dentist and get the tooth extracted surgically.

It is not advisable for you to remove the pus with the needle or anything else at home , the pus pocket or the pericoronitis nneds to be treated professionally by currettage or Operculectomy

i hope this helps ,

take care.
