Swelling In Parotid Gland On Intake Of Alcohol. FNAC Report Normal. Prescribe Medication If Swelling Is Due To Alcohol Intake.
Hi I am 23 years old. My parotid gland is swollen up whenever I take alcohol. I have also observed that If I stop drinking for a month then there is no swelling. I did FNAC but everything is fine. So I wanted to Know is it just because of alcohol or something else.
And If it is because of alcohol than what medicine should I take to reduce the swollen part???/

Hello welcome to health care magic. Yes you are correct,,,In chronic cases of alcoholic consumption parotid gland may be enlarged,,,this is called sialadenosis..(as your FNAC report came as normal)but it is reversible only when you stop taking alcohol .. in due course of time due to chronic alcoholism your liver may get alcoholic fatty liver ... You have to maintain strict abstinence from alcohol.. Hope you understand my answer Thank you Dr.siddartha
