Swelling, Inflammation Below Throat Causing Intense Pain Over One Side Of The Body, Sleeping Difficulty. What Should Be The Cure?
I have what appears to be a swollen or inflammed bone just below my throat , its very painful and seems alot bigger than the other side, I am also finding it very difficult to sleep at night the pain has been excrutiating over the weekend right across the top right hand side of my chest from my shoulders to my neck and also up to my ear and head, all based around the right hand side, can you advice please?
Hi Louise,
Thanks for writing in.
The swollen 'bone' could either be a fractured clavicle or a group of enlarged lymph nodes or a collection of pus ( called an abscess). The fracture of the clavicle could be possible only if you have sustained some severe trauma. If the lump is soft and mobile, it could represent an abscess in which case you would need to get it incised and the pus would need to be drained. The enlarged lymph nodes could be due to an infection in the throat or surrounding areas.
Please see a physician for an examination. Only then can the nature of the lump can be identified.
Regards
