Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Swollen, Hard Finger After Probable Bee Sting, Pain Under Armpit Extended And Painful To Move Hand. Took Periton. Suggestions?
Yesterday evening stung on left finger resulting in hard swelling. Took periton last night and this morning. Finger remains swollen and hard but not really painful. About three hours ago began to feel pain under armpit, localized to begin with but now extended and hurts to move. Not sure what I was stung by but suspect a bee.
I am so sorry to hear you were stung probably by a bee yesterday. The symptoms are very suggestive of an allergic reaction following this exposure. The pain under the armpit is as a result of the lymph nodes located in the armpit trying to contain the infection. This will for sure resolve over a few days. I will suggest that in addition to the piriton you add a pain medication like Ibuprofen/paracetamol to control the swelling and pains.
If the swollen doesn't get better and pains increasing, then you may want to visit a doctor for proper examination and treatment if need be. I wish you well and if you have any follow up questions, please feel free to ask us. I wish you a rapid resolution of symptoms. Dr. Ditah, MD
