My boyfriend woke up a week and a half ago and noticed that his left testicle was tender. He brushed it off, because it hurts off and on. By the end of the night, though, it was swelled up the size of an egg and he was in severe pain. We took him to the hospital and they told him it was epididymitis . They gave him a few pain killers and sent him home. The pain is currently much more severe to the point where he has trouble moving, and even sitting still is unbareable. The swelling hasn t gone down at all either. I was wondering what all could be the possibilities for this occuring, and what sort of treatment he would need, considering the hospital didn t really want to deal with him. (they couldn t get him out fast enough)
Hi
I would recommend a ultrasound again,if not done already. And antibiotics are a must. Also accumulation of pus needs to be ruled out in which case it has to be drained.
hello,
acute testicular pain may be either epididymitis or testicular torsion(more severe).
these 2 conditions can be ruled out by some examinations and doppler usg.
if he already diagnosed as epididymitis then he needs bed rest, antibiotics and pain killer. it will subside in 2 or 3 days.if pain increases you can consult surgeon again for it. take care
