TB Lung Scar Traces Of Blood In Sputum
Hi. I had TB diagnosed on my borh lungs on november 5th. I had some bleeding in my sputum also, but doctor said its normal I spent 2 months in hospital, and they gave me full therapy - RF, INH, ETH and PZA for 2,5 months. Then doctor sent me home, and since then I feel much better and taking RF and INH only. Doctor told me to act normal, and to come to him o april 5th, for control. But, I had some small blood this morning again from my lung scar. Just a little, not like it was on beginning, a lot of it. So, is this normal, and should I see my doctor now, or do normal ? Thanks

Regarding the pain - i'm unable to exactly attribute it to anything specific unless of course if it was on the right side of your upper back - this might be related to the disease itself. Hope this helps.

1)Is this the first time you have been diagnosed with TB? And is this the first time you have taken RIF, INH, PZA, EMB?
2)Was your sputum test positive for TB organisms in the beginning? Was a sputum test done after 2 months of treatment? If yes, what was the result?
3)How was "TB in both lungs" diagnosed? Was it with a chest X ray? Was it repeated after 2 months of treatment? Did it show any improvement?
4)Most importantly, what symptoms did you have other than blood in sputum in the beginning? Have they improved?
A little blood in sputum may remain during treatment and resolve by the end of treatment, if there is improvement in other parameters. You must consult your doctor if there is no improvement in the other parameters or if they have actually worsened.

Congratulations, you are on the road to recovery thanks to a very efficient doctor. A little streak or spot of blood in sputum now and then is no cause for worry especially if there has been a good clinical improvement.
Dicynone (Ethamsylate) may be used as a supportive medication along with a cough suppressant like Linctus Codeine or its equivalent if the streaks of blood persist or worsen and of course you must take these thro' a signed prescription from a doctor and not over-the-counter.
The white patch on your tongue along with pulmonary TB suggest to me that your immunity was quite low at the time you developed your symptoms. I'm sure your doctor has looked into it.
