Taken Sulfamethoxazole For Epididymitis. Will It Heal On Its Own?
Hello I had epiditimitis for a while now and I was put on sulfamethoxazole and I did the normal dose of it. and I waited about a week and symptoms didn't seem to go away. So I went back to my family doctor and I got prescribed Zithromax. and she told me it should clear up. she said the medications should be in my system for seven days after taking my last pill. and it's been a little over 7 days and my issue still hasn't cured. will it heal on it's own now?
Hi ! Do you have any urinary symptoms as well. Sometimes untreated urinary tract infection also gives rise to recurrent epididymo-orchitis. So you should get your urine tested for any infection. If it is negative, then I would suggest you to use proper scrotal support whenever you do any heavy work, or stand for a long duration.
Apart from this you should also take some anti inflammatory drug along with the antibiotic. The pain gets relieved first followed by delayed reduction of the swelling.
I am not aware from where you belong to . In case you belong to an area where filariasis is endemic, then you are advised to discuss this with your family physician and take a course of anti filarial drug. Good luck.
