Taken Steroids And Blood Transfusions For ITP. High WBC Count, Low Platerlets. Biopsy Shows No Lymphoma. Help

Hello Dr my name is carol the query I have concerns my son. He is 25 and has had ITP for approx 18 months during this time he has had numerous treatments including steroids, blood transfusions and has had his spleen removed as well as having to have 2 operations the last on last friday to remove the little spllens that grow back on top of that he had enlarged lymph nodes in his groin with gave every indication he had Lymphoma. His white cell count is high and has been for some time and platelets have continued to drop even after the last operation whilst we have a lovely haemotoligist I am finding Matt's suitation very frustrating please help if you can The biopsy showed no Lymphoma but another CT scan will be done in 2 months and again constant blood tests.

I can under stand your concern, the patient is Male so I think you need not worry about it because the main problem of ITP is Bleeding crises which is the life threatening cause among the female because of their Menstrual cycle, but here this is out of question, only care your son has to take about the injuries, platelets of ITP patients does not create any emergency even though they are low quantities but because of their good health, natural remission of ITP too common so please Waite for some years before doing any further non indicative therapy, Take care of your son.( Always keep an eye on Purpura )
