Taking Carbamazepine For Trigeminal Neuralgia. Itchy Rash On Body. Side Effects?
I was prescribed Carbamazepine for trigeminal neuralgia and after taking the medication for 6 weeks, came out in a hideous rash all through my scalp , face, chest and back, which was extremely itchy. I am now awaiting the arrival of Gabapentin at my local pharmacy. Can you tell me if there is likely to be side effects from this new drug please? I am hoping that it will also take away the pain of my sciatic nerve which keeps me awake nights. I am currently awaiting a MRI scan also, which will hopefully reveal some of my nervous system?? problems. Await your reply. Val Walsh e.mail: YYYY@YYYY
Hi carbemazipine causes lot of side effects but as it is a drug of choice for trigeminal neuralgia hence used.the possible side effects are nausea .vomiting.diarrhoea.maculopapular rash.sometimes very severe rash appears on the mucocutaneous layers called as steven johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysiss.gabapentin is more safer and potent than carbamazepine .gabapentin have very minor side effects
