Taking Cefuroxime For Stomach Pain And Fever During Pregnancy. What Should Be Done?

My wife is pregnant of 18 weeks.She has pus cell 22-24 in urine.Epithelial 10-12.Albumin ++.All the time she has pain in belly. She had cefuroxime antibiotic for 1 month.But still having pain and little fever.
What should we do now?
She is eager to have sex daily.Is it is safe for me and her?
Is sex without condom harmful for me?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Cefuroxime has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal harm. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Cefuroxime should only be given during pregnancy when need has been clearly established. She can continue to take cefuroxime under medical supervision.

Daily sex at this stage is not recommended as she is also having infection. Using condom decreases the chances of infection.
