Taking Coumadin, Xarelto To Prevent Blood Clotting. Family History Of Heart Disease. Interaction With Herbalife Products?

It was discovered via blood work by a hematologist that I had a mutation in my DNA which caused my blood to clot-anywhere- veins & arteries. Coumadin was not consistent. I was given Xarelto 20mg daily. I have just started to take Herbalife Products in order to reduce my weight. I am trying to find out if interactions have been reported between this drug and Herbalife.
Would like an answer from a cardiologist. Major family history of heart disease. Mother & father both had bypass surgery for blocked arteries. Father also had to have pig's value. Mother had first heart attack at age 50. Bypass surgery, twice. Died at age 90. Father died at age 87. I am not on any high cholesterol medication since Crestor and Lipitor caused sever side effects.

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

It may not be safe to take any additional product, when on anticoagulant.
It is difficult to standardise the herbal products – every batch may be qualitatively and quantitatively different from each other.
Weight is like bank account / The amount in your account comes down when you withdraw more (physical work) and you deposit less (eat less). If the weight is picking up, it only means – the exercise is not enough / the food is more / or both...
See a good dietician - you have to reduce the quantity of your food and change the quality too. You need regular exercise. / For weight reduction, there is no officially approved product/medicine without side effects.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck

Thanks for your question

Xarelto and Herbalife:
Xarelto is a noval anticoagulant drug which is far safer as compared to Coumadin. Xarelto has very few drug-drug and food interactions as compared to coumadin. But you need to review the leaflet if it states for the herbal products.

Strong Family history of Heart Disease:
Your strong family history of ischemic heart disease make me more concerned about your risk of having heart disease.
You need to get yourself evaluated by a cardiologist to stratify your risk of having coronary artery disease and for that you would be needing certain blood tests and electrophysiological tests.

Hope that answers your question
