Taking Lopressor, Maxide And Cozaar For Hypertension. Help?
I am a 72 yr, old female with a creatinine level of 1.19, an eGFR of 46 and a BUN-Creatinine ratio of 17. I've had reports similar to this for about 2 yrs. I've had several tests done but nothing wrong with any of this. Am I being overly concerned. I am due to see my nephrologist soon. I take Lopressor, Maxide and Cozaar for hypertension. What could be wrong?
The GFR is used to look at the function of the kidneys. The slight increase in the creatinine levels and the decrease in eGFR usually indicate that there is some level of kidney impairment.
Hypertension is one potential cause of kidney disease. It is possible that long standing hypertension ,if not appropriately controlled, can impair the kidney function.
Treatment would involve checking for other risk factors such as diabetes and controlling both the blood sugars ( if there is diabetes) and the blood pressure.
I hope this helps
