Taking Propranolol And Lexapro Occasionally. Memory Is Depreciating. Will Ginkgo Biloba Trigger Hyper Acidity?

I am taking propranolol, rivotril, and lexapro occasionally when needed because I have difficult sleeping habit. These are drugs prescribed by my doctor. My regular vitamin is Bcomplex. I am 50 years old and still working as an HR Practitioner. I noticed that upon reaching 45 years old my memory is depreciating. I have just started taking ginkgo biloba as per Doctor's advice too. I just got curious and searched its health benefits and if there are side effects; its benefits are wonderful! I have history of hyper acidity and had gone some series of medication few years ago but now I'm ok. I am just worried if ginkgo biloba will not trigger my hyper acidity and if just ok to take together with the other drugs that I occasionally take. At my age, I like to take ginkgo biloba regularly, i hope its ok for me! By the way, my maintenance is combizar. Thank you!

Dear Mam,

Thanks for writing to us, since you are on Combizar, propranolol, i can assume that you are hypertensive.

I really don't understand your reason for taking Lexapro regularly for long term, Its Escitalopram which has reports of causing forgetfullness and memory problems if taken long term.

Can you tell us since how long are you taking this medication? And what do you mean actually by saying that your memory is depreciating?

Do you forget keeping things more then a normal person does?
Do you have problems with learning?

As you must be knowing that as our age advances, we can start having memory problems.

But , its natural if no pathological cause is found.

I think you should get an evaluation , easiest being doing a MMSE test, which is Mini Mental Status Examination.

I would suggest you to avoid Lexapro, as your problem might be simply a result of that.

Good control of hypertension can prevent you from ischemic infarctions in your brain which may further aggrevate your problem. Talk to your doctor about anti-platelet drugs, in case you are have poorly controlled blood pressure, and High LDL (Cholestrol)

I don't find any problem as such with ginko biloba, people have mixed reviews for that. As such it should not cause hyper acidity but if you develop, you can stop it.

Hope You Stay Healthy And Never Forget Us!
