Teeth Have Become Cold Sensitive, Getting Electrical Sensations. Causes ?
Hi. As of the last few weeks, I ve been having a problem with my teeth becoming very cold sensitive. This is becoming worse everyday. At first it was just the teeth. Now I have electrical sensations in my teeth and my gums - left and right, upper and lower. ALL my teeth are effected. I have not noticed any kind of changes with my teeth or my gums at all before or during this whole time frame. I can push on my teeth, push on my gums, or bite down hard - and no pain. So it does not appear to be a dental problem. It seems to me the nerves in my gums leading to my teeth have suddenly become over active. What could have caused this? By the way I am a 47-year-old white male.

I read your query,i would like to tell you the possible causes of your cold sensitivity could be generalized cervical abrasions or attrition.
so i will suggest you please visit a dentist in your area and get the thorough examination done.
If there are generalized cervical caries present you should go for filling of all of the after x-rays to make sure that these caries are not much close to pulp,if it is close to pulp that tooth will go for root canal treatment.
if this is because of attrition i will suggest you use sensodyne rapid reliefe/colgate sensitive pro-reliefe/senquel-f for sensitivity.
Nothing to get worried.

hello there....how is the weather around you? Have you experienced running nose or any upper respiratory tract infections in the recent past? If so you would have had sinusitis....inflammation of the sinus (maxillary sinus) located just above your upper teeth....when you have the maxillary sinus inflamed the pain radiates to the upper teeth...the pain worsens on bending forward...these teeth tend to become more sensitive ... Consult a Oral and maxillofacial Surgeon or an ENT specialist in your area for further management.....

Sensitivity to temperature - usually cold - is a classic symptom of the pulp of the tooth being inflamed.See your dentist right away. When a tooth is just mildly irritated by to cold, the problem can usually (but not always) be fixed with a restoration such as a filling or a crown. Once the pain in response to cold has progressed to a certain point, you will have a tooth infection and endodontic therapy (root canal treatment) is required to save the tooth.

If you experience cold sensitivity in teeth then it might be due to loss of enamel from teeth as you might be having attrition or abrasion.
It might be because of your improper brushing technique or bruxism habit.You need to go for proper diagnosis.If it has not approached pulp then it could be treated by restoration otherwise it would be treated by RCT.
For temporary relief start with thermoseal-RA toothpaste.
Consult your dentist for further query.

it is advised that you should go for physical examination of your oral cavity, this would help in obtaining the correct diagnosis & thus correct treatment plan.
for time being you can use tooth paste like RA Thermoseal or Sensodyne.

Sensitivity of teeth may be due to-Regressive changes like attrition,abrasion or erosion of teeth.
Periapical infection of teeth.
Exposed tooth portion has to be restored with tooth-coloured filling material.
Use soft-bristled toothbrush and clean your teeth in back-forth,up-down motion.
Avoid intake of carbonated drinks,citrus fruits.
Avoid tooth grinding habits.
