The patient has decompensated cryptogenic cirrhosis and has developed spontaneous bacterial peritonitis. He has had severe ascites and gross peripheral oedema. After treatment, he lost 18kg of fluid, which was drained. He also had hepatic encephalopathy. We would like to know what is the likelihood of the encephalopathy occurring?
