There Is A New Airgun Being Marketed For Home Protection

There is a new airgun being marketed for home protection as a "non-lethal weapon" that fires a capsule of capsicum which is supposed to be safe to family especially children, even if accidentally discharged. This is the web site http://www.saltsupply.com/#!effectiveness/fjnod. In the section on effectiveness they say "A SALT Round travels at 320 feet per second meaning that being hit by a SALT Round has the same kinetic energy as being hit by a 50mph fastball". I am having a disagreement with a friend who likes this air gun. I think a round with this degree of power is something that can injure a child. Many gunshot injuries are caused by children - often handling weapons in the absence of adults. I think this protection weapon needs to be treated with the same respect as a gun firing a bullet.
