Throat Pain, Swelling, Yellow Marks On Tonsil, Blocked Ear
I have had pain in the back of my throat on one side for 5 days now, when examining the back of my throat in a mirror I can see that the side where the pain is is very swollen and there is a round black thing (quite big) as well as yellow marks on my painful tonsil . The throat area is also very inflammed and red. In addition the side where the pain is my ear feels all blocked. Every time I swallow it pops it is also very painful to swallow in my throat

It would appear you have exsudative tonsilitis. Tonsilitis refers to inflammation of the tonsils and infection is a common cause. Infection could be due to viruses or bacterial and both infections can explain the symptoms you are presenting with. However, bacterial infections will present with a more present increase in body temperature.
Viral infections generally get improved within a few days and apart from oral hygiene not much is required. Bacterial infections require in addition to the oral hygiene require antibiotics and a streptococcus infection has to be ruled out because it has complications on the heart and kidneys. Strep throat could be diagnose by culture of the throat swap or by testing for certain antibodies in blood. All these your doctor could do.
What you should do is;
-gurgle salty water regularly
-take some antibiotics ( amoxicilline or erythromycin if allergic to penecillins) for 7 to 10 days
-take paracetamol (acetaminophen) and
-drink much water

Infected tonsils and pain while swallowing shows to be pharyngitis with follicular tonsillitis.
Pharyngitis is inflammation of the posterior pharyngeal wall which is causes by bacteria like streptococcus, diphtheria and viruses like respiratory syncytial virus and influenza.
Of all these Strep throat is very common. This leads to infection of tonsills also. Swelling of tonsills is the reason for the painful swallowing.
Pharyngitis can be treated by simple antibiotics like pencillin, amoxycillin, azithromycin. It depends on the severity of the disease.
Get an appointment with the ENT specialist. In the mean time you can use antihistaminics and some analgesics to relieve the pain. Salt water gargling will be soothful to the throat.
