Thyroid Condition. On Thyronorm Medication, Discontinued. High TSH Values, Further Increased. Dosage For Thyronorm Medication?

Hi, I had got my thyroid checked 6 months back which revealed my Tsh value as 5.9.I was given thyronorm 25mcg.I took the medicine for 3 months and discontinued it.Last week when I got my thyroid check done, it showed my Tsh was 15.0.I was asked to take thyronorm 50mcg.Am I given the correct dosage??How long should I be on medication?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. If you have been diagnosed as hypothyroid, you are likely to take the medicine for life. In most of the cases. there is no correct dose for thyroxine, it needs to be titrated against your TSH and T4 values to keep them in normal range.Hope I have answered your query.
