Toe Pain, Cut In Skin, Tender And Painful Bump. Draining Pus, Bleeding. What Should I Do?
hi , i am having some toe pain on my right big toe . I first thought it was an ingrown toenail but im starting to think it may be more. There is also a bad cut in the skin where the toe nail ends. I have a tender painful bump at the top right corner . Ive been soaking it in salt water and using neosporin to prevent infection . It is draining puss and is starting to bleed . What should I do ?
Your problem seems to be due to infection due to ingrown toe nail.
As the swelling has bursted and it is bleeding along with pus discharge, you should consult a surgeon for proper incision and drainage of the swelling. You should start oral antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medicines after consulting your doctor.
Continue applying Neosporin skin ointment.
You can also have a Culture and Senstivity test of the pus draining from the wound, as this will help to know the causative organism and the appropiate antibiotic needed.
I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
