Tonsil, Cervical Lymph Nodes Swollen. On Medicines. Advised Tonsillectomy If Not Cured By Medicines. Opinion?
My right palatine tonsil has been swollen for 6 weeks now along with my cervical lymph nodes (mainly on right side, but the left side is swollen too.) I have taken two rounds of 10 days of amoxicillin , 1 round of 3 days of prednisone , another round of 7 days of prednisone and am now on another round of 14 days. The prednisone helped the pain, but after being off of the prednisone for a week, all of my symptoms came back. The ENT said I would probably need a tonsillectomy if the prednisone doesn t work this time. I feel like there are other options that he may not be considering. Maybe allergies, cancer, or maybe there is another way to fix this problem rather than surgery. What do you suggest?

thanks for your query. you could be suffering from chronic tonsillitis as you have bilateral neck glands with tonsil bulky. Better to go for surgery if no relief. If tonsils were infected chronically then better to remove it as it acts as focus for multiple infections in the body. Thanks. take care.
