Hello dear,

Management of acute tonsillitis involve:
1. Gargle with warm salt water to relieve throat pain.
2. Analgesics like paracetamol
3. Antibiotics like penicillin or erythromycin to remove the causative organism of Tonsillitis.

Persistence of symptoms can be attributed to:
1. Inadequate dosage & duration of therapy
2. The causative organism is resistant to the medications being used.

So, it will be better to consult the treating physician and discuss regarding this.
Appropriate anti biotic should be chosen depending upon culture & sensitivity reports of throat swab.

There is no need to worry...your son will be perfectly fine.
Wishing him a speedy recovery.
Thanks & take care.
