Took Amatryptoline Few Days Ago And Had Episodes Of Blood Rush To The Head, Burning Sensation And Reddening Of The Face And Neck, Headaches. Side Effects? Solution?
My sister started amatryptoline 3 weeks ago, in the last week she has had episodes of blood rush to the head, burning sensation and reddening of the face and neck, headaches. Her Bp was high at check up last Friday, and is due to have 24hr holter monitor. While the amatryptoline seems to have some positive effects, what are her alternatives to allow her stay on it and bring Bp under control E Ile
Amitrytyline is a tricyclic anti depressant. It is one of the older antidepressants and is not commonly used for depression these days. Most commonly it is used for neurological pain, tinnitus, chronic pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, nocturnal bed wetting in children, irritable bowel syndrome. It is not used for blood pressure control and it is not likely that this is the reason that it has been given.
She may want to consider speaking to her doctor regarding the side effects she is experiencing.
I hope this helps
