Took Tetanus Injection After Finger Got Cut. Stitches Removed But Swollen With Puss Coming Out. Is Finger Infected?
Hi, I had 7 stitches removed from my finger a few days ago after a cut on a broken piece of glass, when the cut happened I seemed medical aid about 8 hours afterward. It has swollen up a tad since then, is much more painful to the and has had some puss coming out of the cut. I had a tetanus injection and have been on antibiotics but it should be noted I ceased taking them for 2 days halfway through the prescribed course. I am worried my finger is infected and I have a drug resistant infection.
Welcome to HCM. It indicates still infection is there. Take nsaid to subside swelling, pain and inflammation. Switch over to other antibiotic like cefixime with clavulinic or amoxy with clavulinic for at least 7 to 10 days. Take proper local care. Wash it with antiseptic liquid and apply fucidic acid or metrogyl cream. Keep in touch with your doctor.
