Tooth Pain, Sore Throat, Excessive Phlegm. Scheduled For Endoscopy. Worry About Cancer?
I am going in for an endoscopy on the 9th, I think I have acid f\reflux or something to that nature, my throat is sore and I have a white color on the back of my throat, looks like phlem, but I'm not sure. I have only had symptoms since July and I am worried I have cancer. My tooth is also hurting the last few days.........does this sound like acid reflux, gerd, cancer. I smoke occasionally and drink socially. I am 55 and am scared to death that I have cancer........?

your endoscopy is due so be relaxed .Your symptoms can be due to Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD),its a condition in which the stomach contents (food or liquid) leak backwards from the stomach into the esophagus (the tube from the mouth to the stomach). This action can irritate the esophagus, causing heartburn ,pain in throat and other symptoms.
Nothing is suggestive to make me suspect cancer.so be relaxed wait for endoscopy findings.

It can be the reflux causing the store throat. Do you experience other symptoms such as neck lymph node enlargment, problems swallowing? These are more of a concern.
GERD is more likely and white phlegm in back of the throat (pharynx) is not specific symptom for throat cancer.
However reflux should be treated because it can damage the cells lining the inside of the esophagus and throat.
