Tooth Pain, Swelling In Jaw Bone. Got Infected Tooth Extracted, Was On Antibiotics. Normal?
I had my bottom left wisdom tooth out two weeks ago friday and the pain in the tooth that was beside it is bad. I also have swelling on the jaw bone under it and the gum is very swollen. If i bite down the tooth feels as if it is hitting a nervd and sends a shooting pain fo my ear. Also the pain hurts by jaw joint in the corner by my ear. My tooth was infected whsn extracted and i was on anfibiotics before and aftef and they r now done. Is this all normal?

After two weeks and with effective antibiotic in take,
the infection should have been controlled and swelling
should have resolved.
I will advice you see your dentist for a re-evaluation and
for appropriate management.

Healing after extraction takes 10-15days normally.
As you said pain is persisting even after completing your course of antibiotic.
Its a matter of concern.
There might be some remaining root or some bony spicule.
You need to consult your dentist for proper medication.

As you are saying that more than 2 weeks have passed after extraction of your wisdom tooth, then such signs & symptoms are not expected up-to this extent.
Visit your dentist as soon as possible for clinical examination.
Shooting pain after extraction of tooth sometimes indicate that roots of the tooth might be in close proximity with the associated nerve which may get injured in such locations.
If this is the case it will recover over a period of around more than 2 months.
Role of higher Antibiotics is very crucial in this case which should be taken after your dentist's visit.
Avoid food lodgement or accumulation of food in the extraction socket/site.
Avoid hot fomentation as it may worsen the swelling & pain.
Take care.

The swelling at the site of tooth extraction may be due to-Hematoma formation at the site of extraction socket.
Apply frequent ice packs at the site of swelling.
Avoid spicy foods.
Get the socket curetted well by your dentist.
Maintain oral hygiene well.
Gargle frequently with warm saline.
Take care.

Wide mouth opening during extraction causes pain at Temporomandibular joint and jaw bone.
Pain and swelling will go off in 4-5 days.
Apply ice packs over the swelling and follow antibiotic prescription.
Take pain killer for pain relief.
Do warm saline rinses after every meal for a week.
Give hot fermentation treatment at Temporomandibular joint only after 4 days.
