Tortuous Esophagus, Frequent Chest Pain, Difficulty In Swallowing, Inflamed Stomach, Barrett's Syndrome. Cause And Cure?

I have been diagnosed with a tortuous esophagus . What causes it and what is usually done for it? Does that condition ever get better? I have chest pains, and the heart was ruled out. I then had EGD done and was diagnosed with Barett s, and inflamed stomach and a tortuous esophagus. I have found loads of information about th Barrett s, but nothing about the tortuous eophagus. Is the esophagus being tortuous (which I know it s not straight) be th source of the chest pain? I only have occasional swallowing problems, but frequent chest pains. What am I supposed to do about it?

HI. Thanks for a good elucidate history.
You have Barrett's with a tortuous esophagus.
The tortuosity suggests only one thing . That is there was / is still an obstruction in the lower part of the esophagus leading to back-pressure and dilatation is caused by this.
There can be associated motility disorder related to the esophagus.
This causes chest pain. The swallowing difficulty come only if the obstruction is tight enough to hod the food.
Chest pain is caused by this only.
You can consult the Gastroenterologist and He will ask you to undergo further tests . He may go for biopsy, manual dilation for the stricture if present, and advise you medicines. Barium swallow test has still a place in the diagnosis and management.
