Trans Vaginal Scan Shows Six Weeks Pregnancy With No Cardiac Activity. Taking Folic Acid And Duphaston

Hi,my LMP was 11/10/2013 .I had a TVS scan yesterday and found that i am 6 week pregnent with CRL measuring 3.2 mm and no cardiac activity.placental reaction is seen all around.Uterus is normal and both adnexae are clear.No SOL seen and no free fluid seen in POD. also i didnt had any bleeding.I am told to repeat scan after one week for foetal viability. i am much worried.i am taking folic acid 5 mg(bed time) and duphaston 10 mg(twice a day).please give necessary suggestion regarding this matter.

Hi my dear,

I understand your worries. If the transvaginal scan did not show any cardiac activity, then, it means that:

- it is too early to show cardiac activity due to small pregnancy age
- possible interruption of fetal development

If your doctor asked to wait for 1 more week, it is because he/she might want to make sure your pregnancy age is too early to show cardiac activity. Let time for the fetus to grow up.

I'd suggest to measure HCG in the blood and further assisted with your OG doctor.
