Treating Tonsillitis With Penicillin. Burning While Swallowing, Pain And Pus Formation. Cure?

Hi, I've got tonsillitis which I got 250mg penicillin Wednesday and hasn't got any better, I've only spoke to a GP over the phone as it got worse and they told me to up my dose to 2 tablets every 4 hours but even swallowing water burns and now my back gums where the white puss is are inflamed, red, bleeding and Pusey. They sai over the phone it must be a dental problem but I don't have problems with my teeth and this has only occurred since I've had tonsillitis. I'm in a lot of pain.
