Treatment For Itchy And Burning Skin From Sun Exposure

Hello. My name is Danielle. I'm from Engalnd but surrently in Goa in India. I have been here for 4 weeks and so far have had no trouble. Since I have been in Goa, whenever I go outside in the sun, my arms, hands and feet go red raw, itchy and burn. It is very painful and the pain won;t go away. I don't have any ither symptoms on the rest of my body. Even when I cover up these areas with clothing, when I am in the heat it just makes them worse and very itchy. Do you know what I can do to prevent this and what can I take to help it to go away?

Hello,

You got the sunburn but good is that it's not severed just keep the area clean, do wash it twice a day. Apply some soothing cream like calamine, use anti-allergic-like Fexet to control the itch. Do use sunblock with longer SPF when going out in the sun again.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ihsan

Hello,
Thank you for posting on HCM.
Acute sun burns are sometimes frightening but nothing to worry as its pretty easy to manage.
Generally, I advise short course of prednisolone along with local application of mometasone cream and soothing calamine lotion twice a day.
Antihistaminics and antioxidant tablets can additionally be added.
Use high SPF broad spectrum sunscreen everytime before going out in sun.
Cold sponging will definitely help.
Hope this will take care of your issue.
Wish you best of health.
Thank you
