Trying For Baby, Have Read About Usefulness Of Folic Acid. Can I Buy Folic Acid Tablet Without Prescription?

I got married before 5 months. We are trying for a baby and we come to know that if we take folic acid related food items, it will be very helpful to improve the possibility to conceive. Also, the folic acid will be very helpful to baby s health and avoid down syndrome . Please suggest that can we take the folic acid as a tablet? If so, please suggest the name of the tablet. Also, let us know that can we purchase the folic acid tablet directly on medical shop or we should have a appropriate prescription. Many thanks in advance.

Hello,
Folic acid is recommended for woman planning for a pregnancy and it is best started before conceiving. It is known to prevent some of the malformations in baby. It is available without prescription from the medical shops. Common brand available is folvite. A 5 mg tablet should be taken daily.

hello..
good to hear abt your knowledge regarding folic acid..
its very helpful if taken by a childbearing woman , to prevent neural tube defects like spina bifida and down syndrome in the baby..it also helps improve ur chances to conceive also...if you take 400-800 microgram fo acid daily for atleast 3 mths ..u can get it over the counter if u ask for tab folivite 4mg..and u can start taking daily for 3 mths ..
even if u conceive you can take it for 1 mth in the starting mth to avoid these problems in child..
