Twitching In Sleep, Hands, Legs And Shoulders. What Could Be The Underlying Problem?

Hi. I'm worried about my mother. She keeps telling me that she has these sudden twitches while she sleeps. Sometimes it's her hand, or her leg, or even her shoulders. She is able to sleep even after those incidents. She also tells me that it happens to her when she's watching television. I've read online that twitching can have horrible underlying problems and I've been terrifying myself even more. Is this normal or could this be a danger to her? Thanks so much!

Hello,
Thanks for using health care magic for posting your query.
Twitching can occur routinely just before one is going to sleep and gives a strange feeling as if you are falling down. Its a normal phenomena and nothing to worry. Twitches do have an organic basis but you need to be concerned only when they are occurring regularly and independent of sleep.
Hope I am able to help you,
Thanks and regards
