Ultrasound Of Abdomen And Liver, Liver Enlarged, No Intrahepatic Biliary Dilatation. What Is The Cure?

In myultra sound report of upper abdome, liver has been found emlarged measuring 20.5 cm in cranio - caudal axis with diffuse fatty parenchymal echoes. No intrahepatic biliary dialation is seen. No focal parenchymal lesion is detected. I am not a regular drinker. I used to take one to two glass of beer once a week or twice a month. Is it a srious issue or ot is a curable. Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

Liver has been found eNlarged measuring 20.5 cm in cranio - caudal axis with diffuse fatty parenchymal echoes. No intrahepatic biliary dialation is seen. No focal parenchymal lesion is detected.

This means the size of your liver has increased with fatty changes. Normal liver size is 14 to 14.5 cms and your liver is 20.5 cms. It also mentions that there is no other visible change in liver. There is no obstructive jaundice features in liver.

Typhoid can cause liver enlargement and so can many other diseases. You blood tests for liver must be done. If your body weight is higher than normal then that also can cause fatty changes in liver. Please take consultation from your doctor.

Hope this helps.

Hello,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic. You have mild Hepatomegaly and fatty liver. It does not definitely indicates you have liver disease. You can prevent the liver damage by dietary change and regular exercise. Alcohol is not only the cause for fatty liver. It is essential to do Liver function test (LFT) to rule out any change in Bilirubin and liver enzymes. Dietary changes like increase in fruit and vegetable intake, reducing red meat instead increase fish intake.Reduce rice intake as it increase the carbohydrate load to liver.

Hope this helps.
Take care
