hello,
Early USG scan (abdominal) may not reveal detailed view about fetal pole or heart beat. Basically it is seen around 7-8 wks in case of USG scan and around 6 wks on TVS scan. So it is better to undergo one TVS scan for confirmation of fetal viability. Otherwise it may turn to miscarriage.
Take folic acid supplements, protein rich diet, avoid long journey/heavy work, maintain personal hygiene, take adequate rest.
Be well and take care.
Visualisation of a yolk sac is useful in distinguishing an intrauterine pregnancy (IUP) from a blighted ovum, as it is only seen in IUP.
If the MSD is 16 mm or greater and no fetal pole / yolk sac on trans-vaginal scanning then this suggests a non-viable pregnancy . Repeat scanning with an larger MSD and serial quantitative beta-HCG levels.
In a normal early pregnancy, the diameter of the yolk sac should usually be
Visualisation multiple yolk sacs is the earliest sign of a polyamniotic pregnancy, e.g twins.
I recommend you to get a doppler done to visualize heart beat.
Hope this helps,
regards,
Dr Nilofer
